Pratima’s love and admiration for elephants is deep. Her elephant sculptures are her prayers/tribute to this magnificent animal. Elephant as deity play an important part in Hindu religion. “Ganesh” is much loved by by all Hindu family. Growing up in a Hindu Brahmin family, prayers were daily part of rituals.

Ganesha is God of people, traditionally worshiped before any other god and before start of any major events. He is the God of intelligence, prosperity and success.

“Elephant possesses strength, stamina, endurance, and intellect and capable to expressing emotion. They are gentle giants, and world would be a very sad place if we were to loose them through our lack of sensitivity and compassion. And our greed to own something that they have for a specific purpose through millions of year of evolution.”

Pratima incorporates birds and often monkeys in her elephant sculpture as in her imagination, she would like to think that the caring nature of elephant extends to other life forms in wild and even having conversations/gossip. As part of her concern regarding dwindling numbers of elephants, Pratima regularly donate to charities such as;
